Deciding to Get At-Home Assistance for Your Senior

Deciding to Get At-Home Assistance for Your Senior

It’s never an easy decision to decide if additional care for your loved one is necessary to keep them safe. But you may have noticed on your last visit that some things aren’t the same as they used to be. Maybe your loved one seems to be wearing the same outfit each time you visit or doing laundry has become difficult for them. Take a look at the list of questions below and decide if in-home services could benefit and support your loved one.

  • Has food been going sour in the refrigerator?
  • Is your loved one covering up bruises that might mean they’ve been falling recently?
  • When you look around the house or yard, is it as clean as it used to be?
  • Is your loved one remembering to take medications correctly, with the right dosages and at the right time? Are medications expired?
  • Are they able to operate appliances safely and remember to turn them off?
  • Are there any safety features in the home like emergency response systems, grab bars, or hand rails?
  • Is there an emergency contact list?
  • Are there stacks of papers and unpaid bills lying around?
  • Is your loved one spending time with friends or are they spending more time alone than they used to?
